Schaumburg, IL (August 2, 2018) – Crowds Give Schaumburg Summer Theatre’s Ragtime Stamp of Approval with Standing Ovations – Epic production plays for one more weekend Aug. 3, 4 & 5.
The Prairie Center’s own Schaumburg Summer Theatre reaches new heights delivering a sweeping musical of three families in pursuit of the American Dream in the early 1900s.
The Tony-winning score, performed by a cast of 50 backed by a 32-piece orchestra, is just as diverse as the melting pot of America itself, drawing upon many musical styles, from the ragtime rhythms of Harlem and Tin Pan Alley to the klezmer of the Lower East Side, from bold brass band marches to delicate waltzes, from up-tempo banjo tunes to period parlor songs and expansive anthems. Brimming with humor, joy, tragedy, and hope, Ragtime delivers a timeless message through the lens of a nation in flux.
