Chicago Toy Soldier Show September 25

Brings unique collectors from across the country to Schaumburg

Schaumburg, IL (August 18, 2016) – The 36th Annual Chicago Toy Soldier Show will be held on Sunday, September 25, at the Hyatt Regency Woodfield, in Schaumburg, Ill., from 10am-3pm. “It is the oldest and largest Show of its type,” said Roger Garfield, Show manager and co-owner. Roger shares that the hobby has evolved. “At one time, all miniature soldiers were considered toys.”

At this year’s Show, you will indeed find vintage and antique toy soldiers. They will range anywhere from the little green army men that you saw in the movie Toy Story, to soldiers made of lead and other materials dating back to the 1800s, and perhaps a few earlier than that.

You will find currently made toy soldiers and accessories that are produced from the original molds that produced the antique/vintage items. You will also find newly made toys that are designed to look like the older toys. Often, collectors will use these newer toys to enhance their collections of vintage/antique soldiers.

Visitors will be impressed by exquisite and pricier model soldiers that are meant to sit on shelves and be admired.

“But, categorically, we call them all ‘toy soldiers’,” said Garfield, “and you will never see more varied and larger quantities of them anywhere than at the Chicago Toy Soldier Show.”

Admission is $8 for adults; children ages 12 and under are free with an adult admission. Families are welcome, and there are games and prizes for kids.
